It is a great pleasure to welcome and have you – such
great domestic and foreign specialists in coal mining - as
guests in our company, Lubelski Węgiel Bogdanka S.A.
Sharing experience and the possibility to get familiar with
the achievements of other people is a natural process on
the road to technical progress and further development of
the mining industry. Among us we have men of science
who are experts in ploughing technique and technology
of thin seams exploitation and therefore we may confront
theory, practice and perspectives of use and development
of solutions which – I am convinced about this – will con-
stitute for the future of mining.
Just like you, our company has always tried to stay in the
vanguard of innovative implementations which may result
in economic and technical effectiveness of coal exploita-
tion.
Lubelski Węgiel Bogdanka S.A. is located in Lublin Coal
Basin. As early as in the 30s of the previous century after
reserach conducted by professor Jan Samsonowicz it was
deducted that coal exists here on an area of a few thou-
sand square kilometers.
In January 1975 a decision was made to build first Pilot
Mine in Lublin Coal Basin. In Febraury of the same year
a new state enterprise called „Mines of Lublin Coal Basin
Under Construction” was established. Its goal was to mine
the newly-found and documented deposits.
In the history of our activity we had to face the necessity of
making dramatic decisions, like those to flood the shafts
in Stefanow or a danger of liquidation of the whole mine
in the end of the 80s of the previous centrury. We have
also survived a struggle full of determination and sacrifices
fought in the beginnings of emerging market economy of
the 90s. However, we have always known that modern, in-
novative technical, technological and organizational solu-
tions may ensure the future of exploitation and growth. Our
bussiness model of exploitation resulted in a success of
the Initial Public Offering in the stock exchange in June
2009 and guaranteed a first succussful privatization in Pol-
ish coal mining. We owe it to the undertaken philosophy of
operation as well as to our staff, composed of experienced
and well-qualified employees whose skills, experience and
commitment are a guarantee of success.
Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,
The main goal of our meeting is to present Polish and
global experiences concerning the implementation of
ploughing technique in hard coal mining together with the
possibility to get familiar with a practical exploitation of a
plough complex and with technique and technology of
driving headings that are used in LW Bogdanka S.A. The
use of ploughing technique which we apply and use in our
company is an important impulse in further development
of our mine. We would like to share our experience and
we are open to your suggestions and knowledge. I believe
that our mutual expectations concerning this conference
will be fully met.
I wish you fruitful proceedings and unforgettable impres-
sions. Let our mine be your home for those three days.
