INTERNATIONAL MINING FORUM 2011
8
It was Resolution no. 33 of Ministry of Mining and Power
Industry concerning “Start of preparatory works for com-
plex usage of LZW”.
The decisions recognized as a beginning of construction
of coal mines in Lublin area were made in January 1975.
Among them was Resolution of Ministry Council no. 15/75
from 17th January concerning the construction of a pilot
and exploratory mine in Bogdanka.
Following this decision, Disposition no. 4 issued by Min-
ister of Mining and Power Industry about the establishment
of State Enterprise named Mines of Lublin Coal Basin Un-
der Construction. In February 1975 such enterprise, called
Mines of Lublin Coal Basin (KLZW) was established.
THE MINING AREA, RESERVES AND DEPOSIT
CHARACTERISTICS
Lublin Coal Basin mining area is divided into three exploi-
tation fields in which following main objects are located:
Bogdanka Field:
main shafts: shaft 1.2 – inspirational and for trans-
port of materials and people, with 6,0-meter-diame-
ter and 995-meter-deep and shaft 1.3 – expirational,
for hoisting the winning, with 7,5-meter-diameter
and 1030-meter deep,
a set of main fans of WPK-5.0 type by shaft 1.3,
coal mechanical processing plant,
dumping ground for the gangue,
Nadrybie Field:
peripheral shafts: shaft 1.4 – expirational, for trans-
port of materials and people, with 7,5-meter-diame-
ter and 996-meter-deep and shaft 1.5 – inpirational,
with 7,5-meter-diameter and 990-meter deep
a set of two fans of WPK-5.3 type by shaft 1.4,
Stefanow field is being developed basing on the infra-
structure of the liquidated K-2 mine: shaft 2.2 is inpiration-
al, for transport of materials and people, with 7,5-meter-di-
ameter and 1018-meter-deep is currently being prepared
for use and shaft 2.1 which is designed as expirational,
for hoisting the winning, with 7,5-meter-diameter, present
depth is 1040 m (target depth is 1100 m).

ploitation in 57-km

mining area „Puchaczow IV”. Inside
the borders of this area, 18 seams fulfill the so-called bal-
ance criteria. The overburden thickness ranges from 650
to 730 m. Eight seams are classified as potentially mine-
able (so-called industrial seams). At the moment only two
seams are exploited: 382 and 385/2.
Industrial reserves in those two seams are ca. 330 mil-
lion Mg.
“Bogdanka” mine has taken actions to increase the
present mining area towards South through acquisition
of a part of K-3 area. Reserves in that area may be-
come accessible and exploited with the use of shafts
in Stefanow field. Seams 389 and 391 are particularly
interesting.
In 2007 the mine acquired the right to geological infor-
mation concerning these seams in a new mining area,
ordered new geological documentation of the deposit
and developed Deposit Development Plan (PZZ) which
received a positive opinion from Local Mining Council in
